News that MDUSD may receive up to $20 million in federal stimulus money is countered by reports Tuesday that state funding may be significantly less than expected, the Mt.Diablo Fiscal Services Director told the Board of Education on May 12.

The state financial crisis has compelled the MDUSD Board to eliminate a significant part of this year’s Summer Program. Grade K-8 general education classes will not be offered and high school classes will be available only to students who received a D or F in a class and/or need to make up credits for graduation.

The Board of Education took action on February 24 to place a parcel tax initiative on the May 19 state election ballot.

The Board of Education has decided to ask voters to consider approving a $99 per parcel tax to support student programs and services.
