MDUSD Barganing Update
After twelve (12) bargaining sessions which took place over seven (7) months and 64.5 hours, we are disappointed to report that MDEA and the District are at impasse. It is unfortunate, especially in light of the hard work and collaborative spirit of both teams.

Funding for public education in California is in crisis. The failure of State propositions at the May 19, 2009 elections, and reduced revenues have caused unprecedented reductions in funding for local school districts.
Budget Picture Cloudy
News that MDUSD may receive up to $20 million in federal stimulus money is countered by reports Tuesday that state funding may be significantly less than expected, the Mt.Diablo Fiscal Services Director told the Board of Education on May 12.
Board Votes to Reduce Summer Program
The state financial crisis has compelled the MDUSD Board to eliminate a significant part of this year’s Summer Program. Grade K-8 general education classes will not be offered and high school classes will be available only to students who received a D or F in a class and/or need to make up credits for graduation.
District Leadership Change
On February 10 the Board of Education accepted the resignation of Superintendent Gary McHenry and appointed Dick Nicoll as Interim Superintendent.
