In a special meeting on Friday, November 20, the Board of Education unanimously approved the appointment of Dr. Steven Lawrence as Superintendent of the Mt. Diablo Unified School District. Dr. Lawrence had previously served as Superintendent of the Washington Unified School District in West Sacramento. School Board members voiced their strong support for Dr. Lawrence based on his interview and their visit to his current school district. Dr. Lawrence will begin in Mt. Diablo on February 1, 2010.
