SPECIAL BOARD MEETING: January 31, 2006

ATTENDANCE:

Administrative Staff: Superintendent Gary McHenry; Associate Superintendent Alan Young; assistant superintendents Roger Bylund, Gail Isserman, and Dick Nicoll; General Counsel Greg Rolen; Chief Financial Officer Gloria Gamblin

1. CALL TO ORDER: President Mayo called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. in the Board Room at the MDUSD Dent Center.

PUBLIC COMMENT: None

CLOSED SESSION: The Board adjourned to Closed Session in Room 6 of the Dent Center at 5:04 p.m. Topics discussed included public employee discipline/dismissal/release/complaint; existing litigation (N.V. Heathorn v MDUSD); and negotiations.

Public Employee Discipline/Dismissal/Release/Complaint
Eberhart moved, Treece seconded, and the Board voted 3-0-0 to dismiss classified employee #13513, effective January 31, 2006.

2. RECONVENE OPEN SESSION: The Board returned to Open Session at 5:55 p.m. Mayo announced, with sadness, the passing of Board member Bill Leal on Sunday, January 30, and declared that there is now a vacancy on the Board. She then reported the action taken in Closed Session.

3. ADJOURNMENT Mayo adjourned the meeting at 6:02 p.m.
