• June 25, 2025 Board Meeting: The Board took action to make a provisional appointment.
   
• June 27, 2025: Application was released on the Board of Education website.
   
• July 23, 2025: Applications are due to the Mt. Diablo Unified School District by 4:00 p.m.
   
• July 24, 2025 through August 1, 2025: Committee reviews applications and selects three applicants to move forward to interviews.
   
• August 4, 2025: Board of Education interviews finalists and makes a provisional appointment.

The applicant selected to fill this vacancy will serve from their appointment until on or about December 14, 2026. A regular election will be held in November 2026 to fill this position for the following term, which lasts four years. The appointed Board Member would be eligible to run for the Board position.

• Applicants are eligible if they are:
  • 18 years of age or older; 
  • A citizen of the state; 
  • A resident of the school district; 
  • A registered voter; and 
  • Not disqualified by the constitution or laws of the state from holding a civil office. 
• Additionally, a resident of the Mt. Diablo Unified School District must also qualify by Trustee Area in which the vacancy has occurred.

Applicants must live in Trustee Area Four. Trustee Area #4 includes Walnut Creek, Concord, and Clayton. Please review the Trustee Area map to look up your address and confirm your eligibility.

• Regular meetings are typically held on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at 6:00 PM in the Board Room at the Dent Center (District Office), 1936 Carlotta Drive, Concord, CA 94519. 
• The Board of Education duties include the following :
  • Establish policies for the Mt. Diablo Unified School District
  • Approve and oversee the school district budget
  • Serve as good stewards of taxpayer funds
  • Hire and supervise the Superintendent of Schools
  • Establish board committees
  • Lobby lawmakers and advocate on behalf of the Mt. Diablo Unified School District
  • Represent constituents, solicit input on key decisions and listen to concerns and needs of the community
