Congratulations to MDUSD's Spring Sports DAL and NCS Championship Teams!
MDUSD is proud that five Spring Sports teams from Northgate HS and College Park HS were named Spring 2026 Diablo Athletic League (DAL) Division Champions:
- Baseball - Valley Division: Northgate HS
- Girls Lacrosse - Valley Division: Northgate HS
- Boys Volleyball - Foothill Division: Northgate HS
- Softball - Foothill Division: College Park HS
- Girls Track & Field: College Park HS

MDUSD is also proud that three Spring Sports teams from Northgate HS were named North Coast Section (NCS) division champions:
- Baseball, Div 2: Northgate HS
- Softball, Div. 2: Northgate HS
- Boys Volleyball, Div. 1: Northgate HS
Northgate HS Principal Kelly Cooper called the wins on Saturday, May 30th, "the best day in Northgate sports history!"
"BOTH our Softball and our Baseball team won the Division II NCS Championships, held at DVC," Cooper said. "For baseball, that was their first NCS win in program history, shutting out their opponent Alameda 4-0. Softball won 2-0 against Foothill, and Ashley Herman, senior pitcher on the Softball team, who had 15 strikeouts that game and threw a no hitter, was honored that week by WestCoast Preps as the Bay Area Girls Athlete of the week." Ashley was also named the Diablo Athletic League (DAL) Softball MVP Pitcher in the Foothill Division.
"On the same night, for the first time in program history, our boys volleyball team, who had already won the Division 1 NCS championships, AND our first CIF NorCal title, went down to Fresno to compete in the CIF state championships," Cooper said. "Ranked #2 in the NATION, we played the #1 team in the nation, Mira Costa. Boys Volleyball finished 2nd in the state after an incredible season."
