MDUSD Board extends Superintendent Dr. Adam Clark's contract through June 30, 2029

The Mt. Diablo Unified School District is pleased to announce that the MDUSD Governing Board has voted to extend Superintendent Dr. Adam Clark’s contract through June 30, 2029, after the Board evaluated the Superintendent in June and found his performance exceeded standards.

"Dr. Clark has led this district superbly since he joined us in 2020 and brought us through the COVID crisis, reopened our schools and has supported our students across the district," Board President Linda Mayo said, adding that the goals the Board has established for him are posted on the District's website.

Four Board Members voted in favor of the contract extension, expressing strong support for Dr. Clark and appreciation of his leadership. Board Member Tom McDougall, who was elected last November, abstained. "I’m new. I’ve gone through the evaluation process only once," he said. "I feel it’s time to study more before I approve something like this."

The Board approved the contract extension on Sept. 24, 2025 as a First Amendment to Dr. Clark’s most recent previous Employment Agreement, dated June 26, 2024, which ended on June 30, 2027. "I’m extremely proud to serve this Board. I believe that we are taking the district in the right direction," Dr. Clark said after the vote. "I’m all about kids. That is what I care about. I care about every single kid that walks through our doors...As long as I’m leading this district, I will do everything in my power to support our students. I thank you all for your support and I look forward to continuing to operate as a high functioning governance team."
