MEASURE A

Background

In 1989, over 71% of the electorate in the Mt. Diablo Unified School District voted for a Mello-Roos parcel tax known as "Measure A." Voter approval resulted from the recognition that the school district faced overwhelming facility needs for which no funds were available. Measure A has proved to be a lifesaver for district students.

Measure A authorized the school district to sell up to $90 million in bonds to rehabilitate and upgrade its aging schools and centers.
