AI Taskforce

Taskforce members are voluntary and were selected to ensure a balanced representation across roles (educators, parents/guardians, administrators, and technical professionals), feeder patterns throughout the district, and diverse focus areas including equity, AI ethics, privacy, curriculum development, and accessibility.

Objectives

1. Review AI Tools in Pilot

   • Evaluate the two AI platforms currently being piloted across selected sites.

   • Document use cases, strengths, challenges, and outcomes from classroom and operational perspectives.
      

2. Ensure Equity and Access

   • Assess whether the tools support diverse student needs and provide equitable access across schools.

   • Consider accessibility features, language support, and inclusivity.
      

3. Align with District Priorities

   • Determine how AI platforms align with district strategic goals, curriculum standards, and instructional frameworks.

   • Evaluate their potential to support staff efficiency, instructional quality, and student engagement.
      

4. Address Data Privacy and Ethics

   • Identify ethical considerations and risks related to AI use.
      

5. Gather Stakeholder Input

   • Collect feedback from teachers, students, administrators, and families participating in the pilot.

   • Document perceptions of effectiveness, usability, and concerns.
      

6. Develop Evaluation Rubric

   • Establish clear criteria for assessing AI platforms (e.g., usability, impact on learning, data security, scalability, cost-effectiveness).
      

7. Produce Recommendations

   • Provide a final report to district leadership summarizing findings, lessons learned.

   • Suggest professional learning or infrastructure adjustments needed to support responsible AI integration.

Goal

• Qualitative data: Create and review surveys for teachers, students, and caregivers regarding the use of AI in education; consider AI consumerism and AI usage.
   
• Quantitative data: Analyze case studies of selected student groups to evaluate how AI functions to connect math and literacy to real world applications and understanding.

• Taskforce Members: Participate in tool evaluations, review data, attend scheduled meetings, and provide input from their stakeholder group.
   
• Pilot Teachers/Staff: Implement AI platforms as designed and provide feedback/data to the taskforce.
   
• District IT & Curriculum Departments: Support implementation, ensure compliance, and provide data on platform performance.
   
• Vendors: Provide training, technical support, and necessary documentation on product use, security, and efficacy.
   

Pilot Evaluation & Stakeholder Feedback Subcommittee
Responsible for reviewing and evaluating the AI tools currently being piloted in classrooms and operational settings. This includes collecting and analyzing usage data, documenting successes and challenges, and gathering feedback from teachers, students, and families on tool effectiveness and usability. The subcommittee synthesizes findings into reports and recommends improvements based on stakeholder input.

Equity, Accessibility & Inclusive Engagement Subcommittee
Focused on ensuring AI tools support diverse student needs and provide equitable access across all schools. This subcommittee assesses accessibility features, language support, and inclusivity, engages stakeholders to understand barriers or gaps, and promotes culturally responsive implementation. They gather feedback from all groups and develop recommendations to enhance equity and inclusion.

Alignment, Integration & Impact Assessment Subcommittee
Tasked with evaluating how AI platforms align with district strategic goals, curriculum standards, and instructional frameworks. They assess the impact of AI on instructional quality, staff efficiency, and student engagement by collecting data and stakeholder perspectives. The subcommittee provides guidance on integrating AI tools effectively within teaching and learning environments.

Data Privacy, Ethics & Trust Subcommittee
Charged with identifying and addressing ethical considerations, data privacy risks, and trust issues related to AI use in schools. This group engages stakeholders to understand concerns about data security and ethical use, monitors compliance with policies, and recommends best practices to safeguard privacy and build confidence in AI tools’ responsible use.
