California College Guidance Initiative (CCGI)

What is CaliforniaColleges.edu?
CCGI is a statewide nonprofit organization that works with school districts throughout California by providing a free college and career planning platform, CaliforniaColleges.edu. This online platform offers 6th-12th grade students, families and educators access to college and career readiness tools, assessments, college and financial aid applications and a wide variety of information to help students plan for their future after high school.
Mt. Diablo Unified School District is excited to enter into our second year of partnership with the California College Guidance Initiative (CCGI), with the objective of helping our students develop well-informed post secondary plans and pathways to achieve them.

How Can Students Use The Platform?
- Take interest and values assessments to learn more about themselves and their interests
- Monitor their academic progress
- Find careers, colleges and/or training programs to help them reach their goals

- Launch college and financial aid applications
- Have all important information and valuable lessons in one place
Student Accounts:
- All MDUSD students in 6th through 12th grades have a CaliforniaColleges.edu account. To access their account, students should go to their Class Link page and click on the CaliforniaColleges.edu icon:
How Can Parents Use The Platform?
- Support their child’s college and career planning
- Monitor their student’s academic progress
- Learn about money that can help students pay for college
- Help their student navigate applying for college/training programs and financial aid
Parent Accounts:
- Parents are able to create an account in CaliforniaColleges.edu that links to their student’s

Career Assessments:
Career assessments help students think about their interests, skills, personality and values. They will learn about their strengths and preferences or the areas to focus on to reach their goals. Some career assessment results connect students to careers that might interest them, others give them tips to help them be successful in school.

Career Exploration Tool:
The Career Exploration Tool helps students discover how their values, interests, learning styles and personalities can connect to fulfilling careers.

Career Search Tool:
The Career Search Tool helps students find the career path that’s right for them by figuring out what they want to be, what careers connect to their strengths and what steps it will take to get there.

Academic Planner:
The Academic Planner can help students plan future coursework, review completed courses and grades and make sure they are on track to achieve their career and/or college goals. Student’s high school transcript data automatically populates in their Academic Planner. The Academic Planner also allows students to track their CSU and UC Eligibility.

Financial Aid Tool:
Financial Aid helps students pay for college and or training programs. The Financial Aid Tool helps students and families educate themselves on financial aid options and the application process. Through this tool, students and families can access information that will help them learn about, plan for and apply for financial aid.

College Search Tool:
Getting the most out of a college education means finding the college that’s the best fit. The College Search Tool helps students find the best colleges for their needs in California and across the county, based on the factors that matter most to them.
