Education I is one year course, which allows student to explore career related to education through the study of learning styles, cultural differences, child development, and career options. Through research, exploration and self-study, students develop the capabilities to recognize the qualities of an effective educator. The student will develop an understanding of themselves and their career option.

This course provides students with knowledge of career opportunities in filed of teaching and other school sites education professions. Career preparation standards, which include basic academic, safety, communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills are integrated throughout the course. Active class participation is enhanced by fieldwork at school sites under guidance of a mentor teacher. All students are required to observe and/or participate in a variety of settings and classrooms at the primary, elementary, middle/junior high and secondary levels. The course helps prepare students for entry into college or university teacher training programs

CTE Pathway:  Consumer Services 

The College and Career Readiness Course is designed to help students learn and practice valuable skills to prepare them to be college and career ready. The Consumer Services emphasis allows for the introduction and study of the disciplines in the field of consumer services. In conjunction with this there will be a significant role of life management supporting how to interview and apply to jobs, maintain work responsibilities, and create a foundation for further studies in industry-related Consumer and Family SciencesFields.  Additionally students will demonstrate their understanding of career paths and opportunities through a variety of assessments, projects, job simulations, speeches, research assignments, and an exhibition of learning. Students will identify academic interests, skills, values and personality types, research employers and industries, learn goal setting, and focus on expanding their own knowledge of themselves. The culmination of the course will be an exhibition of learning. A presentation done through a medium chosen by the student to a panel of industry professionals, peers, and educators on skills acquired through the course and their projected use in the students’ future.
