TISP Events and PD Opportunities

Here's what happening in 2024-2025:

Title 1 Academy (Title 1 Teachers will be paid for their attendance)

New Staff Orientation (Teachers will be paid for their attendance)
Meet TISP mentors and learn about Induction as you are welcomed to MDUSD and learn about the district.
Location: Northgate High School

Welcome & Classroom Support
Mentors visit classrooms to provide an individual welcome & support in preparing for the school year.
August 2-7

First Day of School Support
Mentors help to welcome students to the first day of school.

Creating the Conditions for Learning  (Teachers will be paid for their attendance)
This hands-on working session will provide participants with practical strategies to implement immediately to enhance a positive classroom environment. Priority enrollment to teachers who hold preliminary credentials or are considering/working towards a teaching credential. Register for this Session

Choice of: Tuesday, August 13 or Wednesday, August 14

Mingle with the Mentors
A social gathering for MDUSD teachers with preliminary credentials, recent TISP graduates, and those who are considering or working towards a teaching credential. Come hang out with mentors and connect with each other. This event is optional and teachers will NOT be paid for participation. Feel free to drop in when you are able and leave when you are ready! RSVP here to let us know you're coming!

TISP Orientation (Teachers will be paid for their attendance)
Mentors provide an Introduction to MDUSD TISP to those enrolling in the program for the first time. Required for eligible teachers, and not available to those who do not yet meet eligibility requirements. See the Eligibility page for more information. RSVP by invitation only.

TISP Enrollment
Participating teachers complete the TISP Agreement to enroll in the program
August 26-30 (Ongoing throughout the year as needed)

Creating Expansive Classrooms (Substitute & after hours coverage will be paid by MDUSD)
A professional development opportunity focused on building effective relationships with all students, families and communities, including tips and tricks for supporting students with diverse learning needs. Register for this Session

ILP Goal Deadline
60 days from enrollment. For those enrolling during the week of August 26-30 (most participating teachers), the deadline falls within the week of October 14-18.

Fall Advisory Panel
The MDUSD Teacher Induction and Support Program relies on input from our educational partners to ensure a highly effective program that meets the needs of participating teachers, students, and school sites. Our Advisory Panel meeting is a 45-minute virtual meeting, held twice each school year in which we provide information about the program and receive input from panel members. Please contact Kirsten Watson at watsonk@mdusd.org if you would like to join the Advisory Panel.

TISP ILP Review Panels convene to review all ILPs and provide written feedback. No TISP meetings are held during this week.

TISP ILP Review Panels convene to review all ILPs and provide written feedback. No TISP meetings are held during this week.
May 5-9

Final TISP Meetings for 24-25 School Year
Mentors present results of the ILP Review and provide next steps to participating teachers.
May 12-16

Colloquium (Required for teachers completing their Induction program)
The Mt. Diablo Unified School District Teacher Induction and Support Program
Colloquium is an opportunity for all participating teachers who have completed the
requirements of TISP to come together in celebration of professional learning, goals
accomplished, and progress towards mastery of the California Standards for the
Teaching Profession. During Colloquium, participating teachers will have the
opportunity to engage in reflective conversation with their peers on the professional
learning obtained over the course of Induction. It is an opportunity to celebrate your
many accomplishments!
