Enrollment in benefits can be one of the most important decisions you will make this year.

Keep an eye out for enrollment. Welcome email with instructions to Enroll
Ask questions if there’s anything you do not understand.
Most benefits become effective on the first day of the month following your date of hire, provided you complete the required paperwork.
The enrollment deadline is the 15th of the month to enroll in health benefits for coverage beginning the following month.
Changes to your benefits enrollment can only be made:
- at the time of hire
- during the annual Open Enrollment period (September–October), elections are effective January 1.
- and due to a qualifying event
Change Requests must be received by the Benefits Department within 60 days of the qualifying event. Please contact benefits@mdusd.org to report a status change.
Qualifying Life Events include:
- Marriage / Domestic Partnership
- Divorce / Legal Separation
- Birth of a child
- Adoption of a child
- Loss of other employer-sponsored coverage
- New election of other employer-sponsored coverage
