WorkAbility I
ABOUT
WorkAbility I is a state-funded transition program administered by the California Department of Education under the Special Education Division. It supports high school students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) who are preparing to move from school to employment, postsecondary education or training, and independent living. Through comprehensive services that are tailored to each student’s abilities and interests, WorkAbility I provides pre-employment skills training, paid work-based learning placements, and follow-up support to help students gain marketable job skills and succeed in competitive, integrated workplace settings. Mt. Diablo USD has held the grant in excellent standing since the early 2000’s. WorkAbility I staff serve hundreds of students at the district’s 5 comprehensive high schools, 1 continuation high school, 8 alternative programs, and the Bridge Adult Transition Program.
